Trinity Lake, CA -- From: Betsy Grant, betsy@inforum.net. Just got back from Memorial Day weekend houseboating on wonderful Trinity Lake, having flown into Trinity Center (O86) which is nice paved 3,000 foot plus airstrip right on the lake. The houseboating place (Cedar Stock) is only about 1/2 mile and they will pick you up although it did take a few minutes of convincing. Houseboats rent early, but there is also the Trinity Center Inn right at one end of the runway and the Wyntoon resort nearby as well. In addition, there are numerous boat-in campgrounds so you could rent a ski-boat and camp. The weather closed in on the last day, and I asked a local that was taking off for assistance in getting out. I followed her just below cloud level in the rain at 5,200 feet as we went down the lake and made a left turn over the mountains and into the upper Sacramento Valley, which I was very glad to see. It should also be mentioned that this should be considered a mountain airport. Victorian Farmhouse, Little River, CA -- This great Victorian Farmhouse is just "around the corner" from the Little River Airport in Mendocino County. We would love to have you as our guests. Just call when you land. The name of our inn is now "Dennen's Victorian Farmhouse". Jo Bradley and Fred Cox are your hosts. Our website is http://www.victorianfarmhouse.com Willow's Glen County Airport -- From Robert Steuber. Nancy's Airport Cafe is right on the field - a short walk to a brand new Wal-mart store. Nancy's is always open 24 hrs a day, and always has good food. Try their French Dip Sandwich, big portions, and very tender beef. There are some neat aircraft on the field. My favorite is a giant Polish Antonov 2 Biplane which is configured to haul fourteen people and there is a 1000 hp Polish built copy of a Pratt and Whitney Radial. Still in camo. This a/c is worth seeing. DorrisThe Hospitality Inn and Dinner house is a great
fly in weekend destination. The airport is located five miles out of town
sits in Mt. Shasta's shadow. The owners of the inn are willing to pick up
individuals with reservations. The inn is an old hospital converted into a
bed and breakfast. With Oregon only three miles way, the locals refer to
Dorris as being in "The State of Jefferson." A great place to
get away and relax with some amazing food, local beer, wine and new found
friends. keefeburcher@yahoo.com.
