N. Carolina Resorts

Walker Inn, Andrews, NC -- The Walker Inn of Old Valleytown - Andrews, North Carolina Built in 1840, the original log structure contained two rooms on the ground floor and two rooms above with a separate kitchen at the rear of the house. By 1864 the house had been expanded to its present state -- a spacious colonial dwelling with a 30 foot dining room connecting the kitchen to the rest of the house. Iron pots still hang from the mantel of the six-foot fireplace used for cooking meals. Wrought iron door hinges, antique door latches, ceiling beams and bubble glass windows are a few of the unique and original features of this historic inn. Many other furnishings and accessories throughout the house are Walker Inn heirlooms, and antiques of American origin predominate.

Purser Cabin Like stagecoach travelers from the past, modern travelers can restore their spirits after a long busy day enveloped in the simple comforts of the early 1800s. As a guest you may choose to stay in the Post Office Room, filling the original "mail" boxes of the Old Valleytown Post Office with imaginary mail. Or, maybe you would prefer the comforts of the Judges Chamber -- lording over the inn at the top of the stairs. Large groups and families can check into the Stagecoach Room -- originally used as a common room to accommodate 12 travelers a night.

Whatever your personal taste, The Walker Inn has a variety to offer. The Inn is open from April 15 to November 15 and is an ideal "Get-away" to plan a family reunion or group function.
